On the afternoon of March 11th, a thematic lecture “The Discovery of Beauty” on arts appreciation organized by the Labor Union was held in the No. 1 Teaching Building with more than 50 teachers attending it.
Ms XU Yan-bo from the Faculty of Design and Architecture was invited to give the lecture who firstly introduced the main intellectual thought―Classicism in the 17th century Europe. Later, Ms. XU displayed paintings with various subject matters, such as, mythology, religion, and history etc and then she elaborated the Classical aesthetics by analyzing the works of three Renaissance giants Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael.
This lecture endowed the audience with a visual-audio journey back into the Classical beauty by appreciating Classical arts from different perspectives, such as, mythology, creative background, painting techniques and styles.
