A Lecture on Mental Health Delivered by the Mother of Taiwan Life Education Prof. JI Jie-fang at ZWU

On May 12th, the Mother of Taiwan Life Education Prof. JI Jie-fang gave a lecture on mental health titled “Show Gratitude to Life, Draw Life’s Rainbow” under the invitation of the Mental Health Education and Instruction Center, drawing more than 400 students to attend.

Unlike the traditional lecture--delivering, the lecture was given in an interactive and experiencing way. At the very beginning, Prof. JI showed a creative stereo music book to illustrate life is full of creativity that can elevate the value of life and let life exert great power.Then, Prof. JI chewed raisins together with the audience, experiencing the “taste” of a small piece of raisin attentively to state the meaning of life is to live in the present, and we should change the living mode of “doing” to “being”, train this life-affirming strength and adjust ourselves to the best state. Following, she demonstrated affection was the most important part in life with episodes from “Grandpa’s Story”, “Twentieth Anniversary”, and “Mother’s Face” and we should learn to show love and gratitude to our families. Lastly, Prof. JI let each participant draw their unique book to reflect the uniqueness of each life in which there have been the pain and happiness in the past, the enjoyment in the present and the expectation for the future. We need to experience the wonder of life with tolerance, gratitude and vision. The two--hour lecture ended in warm applauses as the audience experienced an entirely different journey of life to touch their inner world and make them reflect on life, affection and livelihood.

This lecture belongs to the series of 2015 “Healthy Mind Month” activities. ZWU has always highlighted the cultivation of students’ life education as the Mental Health Education and InstructionCenter have been conducting various mental health activities for years to let each student grow happily and healthily.
