September 25th saw the founding ceremony of Chinese Language and Culture Center of our university in Yaroslavl National University. Vice President Qian Guoying of Zhejiang Wanli University and the President of Yaroslavl National University signed a cooperation agreement and announced the establishment of the center. This is another fruit after the setting up of Yaroslavl University’s Language and Culture Center on our campus.
Vice President Qian made a speech on the ceremony and said the coordination of the two universities was sure to make a success for the friendship between the two countries and would be the solid foundation for the future cooperation. Mo Lili, Dean of the Foreign Languages College introduced the history and achievements of Zhejiang Wanli University and the economic development of Ningbo. Then President Alexander also said that he had a faith in fruitful outcomes to be produced through the cooperation of the two universities via the two centers.
Located by River Volga, Yaroslavl National University, being established in 1803, is one of the oldest universities in Russia. On May 20th this year, seven students from this university came to take a short-term language and culture course in our university. These undergraduates were amazed by the profundity of Chinese culture and prosperity of Zhejiang Province. On the ceremony, leaders of the two universities signed an agreement that would promote student exchange programs and teachers’ cooperation programs by means of exchange programs concerning language, culture and short-term major course. According to the agreement, in addition, teachers would be sent to teach Russian and Chinese in the two universities.
This ceremony received widespread attentions from the local media. During the exclusive interview of the Yaroslavl City Television Station, Ms. Lv Jie, Vice President of Zhejiang Wanli Educational Corporation said that the wide and in-depth coordination of the two universities would help to create an opportunity and platform for the youngsters to enhance mutual understanding and friendship. She also believed the two universities would make greater contributions for the economic development, cultural cooperation and communication, and the traditional friendship of the two countries.
