Deputy Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee Visited the Hamburg Campus of Zhejiang Wanli University

In the afternoon of October 29th, Mr. Zheng Shanjie, Deputy Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Secretary General of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee visited the Hamburg campus of our university to witness the unveiling ceremony of our overseas campus and to conduct some researches and surveys. Academician Shan Fan, President of German Brand University of Applied Science, Madam Wang Wei, China’s Consul General in Hamburg, Chairman Mikado and Deputy Chairman Bernd Müller of German Design Committee also attended the activity. Besides, Secretary General Shi Huifang of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee attended the ceremony and accompanied Deputy Secretary Zheng during Zheng’s inspection of the Hamburg campus. Zheng inquired aobut the teaching models and operational modes of the campus and praised our teaching staff for the achievements overseas. He said that it is a tendency to internationalize all the industries and to cultivate undergraduates with international visions. He was impressed by the arduous efforts of Zhejiang Wanli University in running a new campus overseas. At last, he asked about our “2+2”program with German Brand University of Applied Science and our future coordination.

Being set up in September of 2018, the Hamburg campus of Zhejiang Wanli University is another attempt in the internationalization of our university after the founding of Nottingham University of Ningbo. The Hamburg campus would be of big help to the cooperation between our university and the local businesses in which our students would have opportunities to have internship and have project-based courses. This campus would also be conducive to the Sino-German coordination in education, business, and trade. It would also contribute to the spreading of Chinese culture and Chinese experiences.

Over 180 Chinese and 16 German undergraduates have finished stage courses since the establishment of the campus. In the future we would like to cooperate with more and more German Colleges and universities and offer Chinese undergraduates modular courses like port logistics, creation design, biological medicine, electronic information and software and new industry. To European undergraduates, we would offer applied courses involving Chinese philosophy, social sciences, management and aesthetics. Students who take these courses will gain transferred credits acknowledged in Europe and in the system. Meanwhile, there will be campus activity concerning Wang Yangming’s ideology and collaboration network of Chinese and German enterprises.
