April 17th saw a significant breakthrough in the research program collaborated by Professor Qian Guoying, Professor Ge Chutian from Wanli University and Professor Blanche Capel from Duke University. The outcome of their research, concluded in the paper “Temperature-dependent sex determination is mediated by pSTAT3 repression of Kdm6b”, was published in the top-level academic journal Science. After the publication of this research outcome, the science and education channel of CCTV made a program about it and showed the audience the scientific principles behind the interesting phenomenon that the sex of turtle is determined by temperature. This is the second Science paper finished by the research group led by Professor Qian and Professor Ge since the first one was published by them in the year 2018.
