Our University Holds the 27th Track and Field Sports Games

On the morning of November 6, the opening ceremony of the 27th Track and Field Games and Faculty Fun Sports Meet of ZWU was held at the Qianhu Campus Sports Park. Wang Weizhong, Secretary of the Party Committee; Sun Bin, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission; Chen Jiange, Vice President; Zhu Bangxiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, along with heads of the Office of Academic Affairs, the Department of Student Affairs, the Department of Graduate Student Affairs, Trade Union, and the Department of Sports and Arts, as well as deans of various schools, attended the opening ceremony. Wang Weizhong announced the opening of the event, Zhu Bangxiang delivered the opening speech, and Yu Dan, Vice President and Director of the Sports Committee, presided over the ceremony.

Greeting the dawn, the National Flag Guard marched in with vigorous strides and high spirits. The energetic opening performance by the Fitness Dance Club instantly ignited the sporting enthusiasm of the entire venue. The group calisthenics performance “Wonderful Surprise” delivered a stunning show, the melody of “Golden Snake Dance” echoed through the sky, and the song “The Pursuit” touched hearts deeply. The formations of secondary schools, faculty representatives, referees, and volunteers entered the field in sequence, radiating youthful vitality and passionate energy.

In his speech, Zhu Bangxiang stated that the university has always upheld the Wanli Spirit “If there is 1% hope, we will give 100% effort” and adhered to the motto “Strive, Persevere, Achieve.” The university regards physical education as an important carrier for fulfilling the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education. The university continuously deepens the reform of the sports club system, actively builds an extensive mass sports competition system, and promotes the high-quality development of competitive sports. He emphasized that in recent years, the university has achieved remarkable progress in sports: a vibrant atmosphere for mass sports activities, frequent successes in competitive events, significant achievements in “educating through sports”, and steady improvement in the physical fitness and sports literacy of both teachers and students.

On the afternoon of November 7, the games concluded successfully. Yu Dan delivered the closing speech, expressing her hope that all teachers and students would carry forward the unyielding fighting spirit, teamwork consciousness, and enterprising attitude demonstrated during the games into their daily study, work, and life. She encouraged everyone to meet future challenges with greater enthusiasm and determination, continuously strive to realize their ideals, and work tirelessly to build the university into a domestically first-class, internationally renowned high-level application-oriented institution.

The games lasted for two days, with over 360 athletes from 13 student teams competing fiercely in 28 events. More than 800 faculty and staff members vied for honors in 36 sub-events across three categories: standard tests, fun events, and track and field. The perseverance shown in the rain was particularly inspiring. In the end, the Sino-German Faculty of Branding won the first prize for the opening ceremony performance. The College of Design and Architecture and the Law School took the second prize, while the College of Big Data and Software Engineering, the College of Culture and Communication, and the College of Information and Intelligence Engineering received third prize. The College of Logistics and E-Commerce, the College of Big Data and Software Engineering, and the College of Information and Intelligence Engineering secured the top three spots in the student team total score ranking. For faculty team totals, the Business School, the College of Logistics and E-Commerce, and Administrative Offices ranked in the top three. The Law School, the College of Information and Intelligence Engineering and the Business School received the Student Sportsmanship Award, while the College of Continuing Education, the College of Foreign Languages, the College of Design and Architecture, the College of Advanced Agricultural Sciences and the Law School received the Student Excellent Organization Award.

This sports meet serves not only as a concentrated inspection of the university’s sports achievements and the spiritual outlook of teachers and students, but also as a crucial opportunity to ignite everyone’s enthusiasm for sports and unite the collective drive for progress. All teachers and students competed with great style, demonstrated high levels of performance, and forged friendships, thereby creating a vibrant, healthy, and positive campus cultural atmosphere.
