From November 17 to 18, the Advanced Air Mobility Summit 2025, hosted by the EU-Asia Centre and other organizations and co-organized by our university, was successfully held in Yuyao, Zhejiang. Centered on the theme “Building Global Partnerships for the Low-Altitude Economy,” the summit provided an international platform for dialogue, gathering global expertise to jointly envision the development blueprint of the low-altitude economy and explore pathways for high-quality development and global cooperation.

Distinguished guests attending the opening ceremony included Erik Solheim, Co-Chair of the EU-Asia Centre, Chair of the Green Belt and Road Initiative, and former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program; Irina Bokova, former Director-General of UNESCO; Violeta Bulc, former EU Commissioner for Transport; Yu Chenhui, Director of the Aviation Division of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Transport; and Yang Zhenfeng, Vice President of Zhejiang Wanli University and Dean of the Yuyao Innovation Research Institute.

As a key component of the summit, on the afternoon of November 17, the Yuyao Innovation Research Institute of our university meticulously organized and hosted the sub-forum “Innovation and Sustainable Development Pathways in the Low-Altitude Economy.” The forum offered a forward-looking and highly pragmatic academic exchange platform. Four leading experts, Dr. Li Hua, Dr. Xie Chuanqi, Dr. Li Guilu, and Dr. Lei Qihui, were invited to deliver thematic reports on four core topics: “Applications of hydrogen-powered UAVs in intelligent building systems”, “UAV-based phenotyping technologies for crop breeding and precision management”, “Game-theoretic control of low-altitude UAV swarms and its application to safe campus scenarios” and “Hydrogen energy applications in low-altitude economic scenarios”. These presentations delivered in-depth insights into technological innovation and key breakthroughs for practical implementation. To enhance university-industry collaboration, each report was followed by a special “5-minute Matchmaking Session,” enabling enterprises and research teams to engage in efficient, face-to-face discussions and rapidly identify cooperation opportunities in joint R&D, scenario development, and market expansion, thereby achieving seamless alignment between academic value and industrial needs.

During the summit, the White Paper on the Low-Altitude Economy Industry was officially released. The White Paper put forward four core initiatives: joint technology research, joint scenario development, joint standards formulation, and market sharing, providing crucial guidance for coordinated global development of the low-altitude economy. It also supports Yuyao in accelerating its efforts to become an internationally influential hub for low-altitude economic innovation and strengthens the region’s industrial competitiveness. Focusing on key issues across the full chain, from technology development to regulatory coordination and market applications, the summit engaged in in-depth exchanges through keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, and thematic panels on frontier topics such as cross-border standard harmonization, intelligent airspace management, and green aviation technologies. The event offered a series of forward-looking and practical solutions for the development of Urban Air Mobility (UAM). The successful convening of the summit not only built a bridge for global cooperation in the low-altitude economy but also introduced cutting-edge industry resources and international cooperation networks into Yuyao, significantly enhancing Yuyao’s international influence and industrial clustering capabilities in this field.

As an application-oriented university deeply rooted in Yuyao and committed to serving the local community, Zhejiang Wanli University will take this summit as an opportunity to further leverage its strengths in talent reserves, intellectual support, and multidisciplinary integration. Driven by both talent cultivation and scientific innovation, the university will continue to cultivate specialized professionals for the low-altitude economy, provide intellectual support for policy-making and technological advancement, and help Yuyao seize first-mover advantages, build strong development momentum, and work hand-in-hand with global partners to shape a bright future for the high-quality development of the low-altitude economy.
