November 28 – From November 25 to 28, a delegation from the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen, Hungary––led by Dean Stündl László, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Péter Sipos, and Vice Dean for Research Affairs Szilvia Veres––visited our university. Centered on advancing the implementation of a Sino-Hungarian joint master’s degree program, the visit featured a series of pragmatic meetings and on-site inspections aimed at deepening mutual trust, clarifying pathways for project development, and accelerating the transition from planning to implementation.

During the visit, Vice Presidents Xu Liqing and Ge Chutian respectively chaired cooperation meetings. Focusing on key issues including the Sino-Hungarian joint master’s program, the two sides conducted multiple rounds of productive consultations. Important consensus was reached on core elements such as talent cultivation frameworks, curriculum design, teaching quality standards, and practical training components. Both sides also refined specific terms of the cooperation agreement, clarified implementation routes, and established quality assurance mechanisms, laying a solid academic foundation for the program’s launch.

President Lin Zhihua attended the concluding meeting and delivered remarks. He noted that the visit marked a critical transition from initial intent to substantive advancement in bilateral cooperation. The engagement not only demonstrated the efficiency and exemplary value of international collaboration in higher education, but also established a regularized platform for resource sharing and academic exchange between Chinese and Hungarian universities. President Lin emphasized that the collaboration aligns closely with the core principles of the Belt and Road Education Action, serving as a vivid example of fostering people-to-people connectivity and mutual learning between civilizations through education. The project, he added, will build bridges for cross-cultural exchange among young people and inject sustained momentum into bilateral academic and cultural cooperation.

During the exchange, the delegation toured the Huilong Campus, visiting a range of modern laboratories, featured teaching spaces, and advanced research platforms. The delegation spoke highly of the university’s well-equipped teaching facilities, high-quality educational ecosystem, and strong academic culture, noting that ZWU’s comprehensive strengths in both hardware and software will provide a solid foundation and enduring impetus for the steady advancement and deep implementation of joint initiatives.

Founded as a leading national university in Hungary and a key institution in Central Europe, the University of Debrecen ranks first in Hungary in the 2026 QS World University Rankings. It has established strong academic standing and industry influence in core fields such as agricultural sciences, food sciences, and environmental management. This deepened institutional partnership will leverage the disciplinary strengths of both universities, promote the integration and complementary use of high-quality educational resources, and jointly cultivate high-level innovative talents with a global perspective, cross-cultural empathy, and strong professional competence––thereby contributing robust educational momentum to the sustained development of the China-Hungary comprehensive strategic partnership and opening a new chapter in mutual exchange and cooperation in education and science.
