ZWU Adds Another Ningbo Class A Key Laboratory, One Lab Rated “Satisfactory” in Performance Review

The Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology has announced the list of Ningbo Class A Key Laboratories for 2026. Among the newly approved laboratories is the Ningbo Key Laboratory of Intelligent Processing of Low-Altitude Remote Sensing Information, jointly established by the School of Big Data and Software Engineering at Zhejiang Wanli University (ZWU) and Baolue Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd.

Led by Professor Wang Renfang, the laboratory brings together a team of high-caliber researchers. Aligned with national strategic priorities and the growing demands of the low-altitude economy, the laboratory will focus on key application areas including urban governance, port logistics, ecological monitoring, and emergency management. Through systematic basic research, applied research, and interdisciplinary collaboration, it aims to address critical technological challenges in low-altitude remote sensing intelligence, establish innovative theoretical frameworks and technical systems, and develop an integrated intelligent hub platform.

The laboratory is expected to provide advanced technologies, theoretical support, and application solutions for refined urban management, rapid emergency response, and precision monitoring of natural resources. It will also serve as an important platform for technological innovation, the commercialization of research outcomes, and the cultivation of high-level talent, with the goal of becoming a leading center for scientific and technological innovation in low-altitude remote sensing intelligence.

The bureau also released the performance evaluation results for the 2023 cohort of Ningbo Class A Key Laboratories. ZWU’s Ningbo Key Laboratory of Sex Control and Precision Breeding in Aquatic Animals received a “Satisfactory” rating, placing it among only five laboratories citywide to earn this distinction.

With the approval of the new laboratory, Zhejiang Wanli University now hosts four Ningbo Class A Key Laboratories. Building on this achievement, the university will continue to strengthen the development and management of its research platforms. Each laboratory will further refine its research directions, consolidate disciplinary strengths, enhance research output, and improve operational mechanisms. By using evaluation as a driver of continuous improvement, the university aims to further elevate its scientific and technological innovation capacity, strengthen its contribution to regional development, and advance its research platform construction to new heights.
