On May 22, the signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement between Zhejiang Wanli University (ZWU) and the National Aquatic Technology Extension Center (NATEC) and the China Society of Fisheries (CSF) was successfully held at the university. Han Gang, Director of NATEC and Secretary-General of CSF; Zhao Wenwu, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Academic Exchange Department of CSF; Ma Wenjun, Deputy Director of Zhejiang Provincial Fisheries Technology Extension Center; Lin Zhihua, President of ZWU; and Ge Chutian, Vice President of ZWU attended the event. Representatives from the College of Biological and Environmental Sciences, the College of Advanced Agricultural Sciences and the Office of Scientific Research were also present. The ceremony was presided over by Yang Hua, Director of the Office of Scientific Research.

In his address, President Lin Zhihua noted that the university has long been dedicated to the development of fisheries disciplines and marine industry services, forming distinct strengths and core competencies in areas such as aquaculture breeding, healthy aquaculture, and fishery resource conservation, and emerging as a key pillar for the advancement of fishery studies in Zhejiang Province. This strategic cooperation with NATEC and CSF represents a critical move for the university to deepen industry-education-science integration and actively serve the national strategy for fishery modernization. The partnership will facilitate in-depth integration of the university’s aquatic disciplines with high-quality industrial resources, injecting new momentum into talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, and the upgrading of industrial services. He emphasized the hope that both sides would take this agreement as a starting point to carry out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in joint platform development, collaborative research projects and high-level talent cultivation, build a benchmark for industry-university-research collaborative innovation, and contribute wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of China’s fisheries industry.

Han Gang stated in his speech that, as core hubs for fisheries technology extension and academic exchange nationwide, NATEC and CSF bear the important mission of advancing fisheries science and technology and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading. He noted ZWU is widely recognized across the industry for its robust research capacity and outstanding talent training outcomes in fisheries, laying a solid foundation for promising cooperation. This signing will establish an important bridge for collaborative development between the university and national industry authorities and academic organizations. By integrating resources and advantages from both sides, they aim to jointly tackle key technological bottlenecks in industrial development, promote the application of advanced and applicable technologies, and cultivate high-quality professionals to meet industrial needs, thereby providing strong support for the green transformation of China’s aquaculture and the modernization of the fisheries industry.

During the exchange session, both sides engaged in sincere and in-depth discussions on specific areas of cooperation, including the development of fisheries science and technology, innovation in technology extension models, the commercialization and application of scientific research achievements, cultivation of interdisciplinary talents, and the establishment of academic exchange platforms, clarifying future directions and priority tasks for collaboration. Both parties agreed to establish a regular communication and coordination mechanism, refine implementation plans, and ensure that all cooperation initiatives are effectively carried out, thereby achieving the shared goals of mutual benefit, win-win cooperation, and common development.

Subsequently, Ge Chutian, Vice President of ZWU, and Zhao Wenwu, Deputy Secretary-General of the CSF signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on behalf of their respective parties. The successful signing of this cooperation agreement marks the establishment of a long-term and stable strategic partnership between ZWU, NATEC, and CSF. With the core objective of promoting fisheries technology innovation and green, high-quality industrial development, the parties will strengthen practical cooperation in areas such as fisheries technology research and extension, disciplinary development, joint talent cultivation, and science popularization, pooling development efforts to achieve mutual benefit and shared progress.
