On September 28th, Mozart Concert Hall of Hamburg saw the opening ceremony of the overseas campus of Zhejiang Wanli University. Attending the ceremony were over 200 distinguished guests, including Sun Congbin, Consul General of China in Hamburg, President SHAN FAN of Brand Academy Hamburg—University of Applied Sciences, Ying Xiong, President of Zhejiang Wanli Education Corporation, Ying Min, President of Zhejiang Wanli University, and some leaders from Communication Art and New Media(DFI), Sino-German League of Applied Science Colleges, Sino-German Contemporary Center, Unilever, and Montblanc.
At the ceremony, Consul General Sun Congbin, President SHAN FAN, President Ying Xiong, President Ying Min and Vice President Qian Guoying unveiled the brass plate to announce the establishment of the campus. Curriculums such as Oriental Philosophy, Oriental Culture, Chinese Linguistics and Literature would be offered to European students to spread Chinese culture and Chinese voice. In addition, courses like economics, management and arts would be offered to Wanli students on Hamburg campus. Besides, Sino-German business cooperation network and applied teaching platform would be set up to cultivate cultural talents for both Chinese and German enterprises.
Consul General Sun congratulated the establishment of Hamburg campus of Wanli University and said it is the educator’s mission to foster comprehensive talents with outstanding cross-cultural capabilities. He hoped the teaching staff and the students on Hamburg campus would spare no efforts to make contributions to the higher education of China and Germany.
President Ying Xiong and President Ying Min said that the Hamburg campus is part of Wanli University’s global strategy and a fine model for the internationalization of China’s higher education. They also added that our university is going to take more responsibility in the future and cultivate a generation of talents with global vision. After the Nottingham University Ningbo, the Hamburg campus is another attempt of Wanli University in introducing international high quality educational resources into China. This is also a new model in educational communication and cooperation between China and the countries along the Belt and Road.
