The Fifth Reading Campaign Launched on Campus

Recently, the fifth reading campaign, with the theme of “Youth, Reading and Dream”, was launched in the lecture hall of our school library. Attending the launching ceremony were Vice President Ma jianrong of Zhejiang Wanli University, Deputy Secretary General Wang weizhong, and over 180 relevant faculties and students.

Wang Weizhong congratulated the opening ceremony of the reading campaign on behalf of the school authority and expressed his gratefulness for the attendance of the faculty and students. Wang recalled the achievements of the previous reading campaigns and said that we had made much progress in the building of the learning environment and had established more comfortable reading space and learning platform for the students. Therefore, he hoped our students to read more books, better books and to read more carefully. Vice President Ma also made a speech on the ceremony and pointed out three significant aspects in reading: extensive and intensive reading, superficial and in-depth reading, learning and thinking. He hoped the students to put theory into practice and combine learning and thinking. He suggested the students not only read systematically with a plan, but also broaden their reading sphere and read both extensively and intensively.

At the end of the ceremony, Deputy Dean of the Library Zeng weiqing gave awards to four outstanding units, four outstanding individuals, ten most “beautiful” readers and ten most frequenters to the library. Then a teacher representative and a student representative shared their reading and learning experiences with the attendants. This reading campaign aimed to cultivate the students’ Wanli spirit and hence cause them to have profound apprehension of life through reading.
