“A Thriving Wanli, a Thriving Era”— ZWU Welcomes the New Year with a Gala for 2024

“Sailing a thousand miles, dreaming of a flourishing era.” On the evening of December 28, after a three-year hiatus, the New Year’s Gala was held at the Quality Development Center of the Qianhu campus. On the theme of “A Thriving Wanli, a Thriving Era”, the gala featured rich and diverse programs, providing the audience with an extraordinary audio-visual feast. Leaders from various units of the university, alumni, and representatives of faculty and students gathered to welcome the New Year, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

The spectacular opening video reviewed the outstanding achievements of the university over the past three years in terms of comprehensive strength, party leadership, faculty team construction, talent development, discipline construction, and social services. University leaders, faculty representatives, and alumni sent sincere New Year blessings to the faculty and students through a video presentation. Greetings were also offered by Ge Chutian, recipient of the 2023 National Outstanding Youth Science Fund project, Ye Chenglong, project leader awarded the National Gold Prize in the 2023 China International University Student Innovation Competition, Ye’s project instructor Chen Caixiang, and Stefan Waller, vice dean of the Joint Institute of ZWU and German Brand University of Applied Sciences.

 

 

On the stage, actors delivered captivating performances through various forms such as songs, dances, instrumental music, recitations, artistic gymnastics, and traditional Chinese opera. The joint performance of “Kunpeng Flies High” by the School of Business and the University Orchestra set a grand and beautiful tone for the evening. Alumni representatives presented a choir performance of “On the Field of Hope”, immersing the audience in golden waves of wheat and expressing yearning for the future.

 

 

Students from the School of Information and Intelligent Engineering and the dancers from the University Art Troupe performed the dance drama “Silk Road Blossom”, embodying the timeless spirit of the ancient Silk Road. Students from the School of Logistics and E-commerce and the School of Life and Health Sciences performed a lively song titled “Youth is Different”, bringing vitality and passion to the audience. The School of Design, Art, and Architecture, along with the University Starry Chorus, presented the ethereal female vocal chorus “As Wished”, portraying the struggles and pursuits of the older generation and expressing hopes for the future. 

 

 

 

The School of Culture and Communication and the Foreign Languages College jointly recited the poem “Towards the Direction of Spring”, using eloquent verses to convey expectations for the new year. The Sports Department gave an artistic gymnastics performance titled “Dawn”, displaying agility and elegance, capturing the essence of strength and beauty. The collaborative dance “Blooming Flowers” by the Law School, School of Business, and the University Art Troupe was imbued with classical charm. The Sino-German Department of Branding performed a traditional Chinese opera titled “A Song of the East,” blending traditional Chinese culture with modern elements. Finally, the chorus“Spring Breeze in Wanli” by the School of Big Data and Software Engineering and the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences resonated with strong voices, expressing expectations for the blueprint of the future and the new atmosphere of the New Year.

 

  

 

Goodbye, the old year! A brighter future is waiting ahead. In this dazzling stage, on this warm winter night, let us carry hopes and dreams, stepping into the new year with confidence! We believe that the faculty and students of our university will continue to face challenges with full enthusiasm and sincere courage, forging ahead and creating a better future together!
