ZWU and the University of Nottingham in the UK co-founded the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC)—China’s first Sino-foreign cooperative university.

ZWU passed the undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of Education with excellent results.

In 2011
ZWU was approved as a pilot unit of postgraduate education for master of professional degree and became a chairman unit of the National Alliance for Graduate Education & Development of Application-oriented University.

ZWU became “Zhejiang Province Application-oriented Construction Pilot Demonstration School”.

In 2017
ZWU became a “National Model University for Deepening Reform of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education”.

In 2018
the overseas campus of ZWU was set up in Hamburg, Germany, which is the first independent overseas campus in Zhejiang Province.

it became a master’s degree-granting unit.

In 2022
“upgrading to a university” was included in Zhejiang Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan for Higher Education, and was approved to become a “construction unit for doctoral degree granting project”.

ZWU cooperated with the German Brand University of Applied Sciences and co-founded the Sino-foreign cooperative education institute with non-separate legal entity—the Joint Institute of ZWU and German Brand University of Applied Sciences.
