Zhejiang Wanli University
ZWU has made substantial progress in the construction of research platforms and the application for research projects. The level and influence of scientific research have significantly strengthened, resulting in abundant research achievements. At present, the University has 15 provincial and ministerial-level research and innovation platforms, including the National and Regional Research Centers of the Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratories, Engineering Research Centers, Philosophy and Social Science Key Research Bases, and New University Think Tanks, as well as more than 20 municipal and departmental-level research platforms, including Ningbo Key Laboratories (Class A), Social Science Research Bases, Collaborative Innovation Centers, and Engineering Research Centers, etc.

ZWU focuses on the strategic priorities of regional economic and social development, deepens the integration of industry, science and education, and the synergy between the university, government and enterprises, and has formed a two-way drive characteristics of scientific and technological innovation and social service. In the past five years, the university has produced a number of original scientific research achievements in the field of scientific research: three papers were published in the world’s top journal Science, and the paper on the mechanism of sex differentiation of red-eared turtles solved the half-century-long mystery of TSD research, which is the first paper in Science in the field of aquaculture in China, realizing a historic breakthrough in the field of aquaculture in Ningbo area, universities in Zhejiang Province and the whole country; three scientific and technological innovations, such as “Razor Clam Yongle No.1 New Breed”, have been selected in Zhejiang Innovation Hall, and the projects have won 33 scientific research awards at provincial and ministerial levels, including 4 first-class awards in the national industry, and 1 second-class award of the National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (participation); the projects have won 326 patents, 467 software copyrights, bred more than 30 new varieties, 3 of which are new nationally-approved aquaculture varieties.

In the past five years, ZWU has successively obtained 64 national-level projects, including the “Outstanding Youth” project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the “Excellent Youth” project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the “Blue Granary” key scientific and technological innovation special project of the National Key R&D Plan, as well as 273 provincial and ministerial-level projects, 802 departmental and bureau-level projects, and over 70 of the projects were officially approved to be put into use. The total funds received amounted to 353.92 million yuan.
