Vice-Chancellor of Nottingham University, UK, and Her Delegation Visit ZWU

On the afternoon of July 18, a delegation from the University of Nottingham, UK, including Vice-Chancellor Zoe Wilson, Dean of the School of Bio-sciences Sacha Mooney, and Dean of the School of Pharmacy Barrie Kellam, visited our university. President Lin Zhihua accompanied them during their visit.

The delegation toured the Ninghai Mariculture Breeding Research Institute and the College of Biology and Environment, gaining a detailed understanding of the development history, research achievements, laboratory facilities, and talent cultivation of these institutions. They expressed appreciation for our university’s research achievements and innovative explorations in the field of agriculture.

After the visit, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions. During the exchange meeting, President Lin welcomed the delegation from the University of Nottingham and highlighted the development of agricultural-related disciplines and programs at our university. He expressed hope for further collaboration based on the establishment of the Ningbo Nottingham University, aiming to deepen the strategic partnership and jointly elevate the internationalization of education.

Zoe Wilson noted that the two universities have a high degree of alignment in agricultural research and share common goals in many research areas, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation. Subsequently, both sides discussed joint training of MA students, the establishment of international joint laboratories, and international research project collaboration, reaching a consensus on the principles for advancing specific implementation plans.

The University of Nottingham, founded in 1881, is a prestigious institution in the UK, ranked 100th in the 2024 QS World University Rankings and 17th in the UK. Its disciplines in life sciences and pharmacy are ranked among the best in the world. This visit marks a new starting point for cooperation between the two universities, showcasing our university’s proactive stance in global educational collaboration and its firm commitment to accelerating the internationalization of education. Participants in the exchange included Lyu Jie, Vice President of Wanli Education Group, Michael Wormstone, Director of the Life Sciences and Healthcare Research Center at the University of Nottingham, He Min, Director of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Office, as well as staff from the Office of International Affairs, Ninghai Mariculture Breeding Research Institute, College of Modern Agriculture, and College of Biology and Environment.
