Recently, the Business School received the official accreditation certificate from ACBSP (Association Council for Business Schools & Programs), confirming that the programs in International Economics and Trade, Accounting, and International Business have passed the ACBSP international business program accreditation, valid for ten years. This is the first time our school has achieved such professional accreditation.
The Business School’s programs in International Economics and Trade, Accounting, and International Business began the accreditation process in 2019. In accordance with accreditation requirements, we organized the seven evaluation dimensions of ACBSP (Leadership, Strategic Goals, Stakeholders, Learning Outcomes Assessment, Faculty, Talent Development Programs and Curriculum, Performance Indicators and Assessment) to carry out reforms in talent development programs, curricula, teaching evaluations, textbooks, and faculty. We drafted an accreditation report, reviewing and improving each item, and collected over 200 accreditation forms, ultimately producing a 50,000-word evaluation report in English. After completing the written review of the self-evaluation report at the end of 2022, we submitted an application for on-site review to the ACBSP headquarters. In October 2023, the ACBSP headquarters sent a panel of evaluators to our school for an on-site review. The panel unanimously awarded our school the highest evaluation level during the on-site review—“BEST PRACTICE”.
The Business School has always used international accreditation as a means to strengthen the construction of professional connotations, adhering to the goal of “promoting development through evaluation, promoting reform through evaluation, promoting management through evaluation, and promoting strength through evaluation”. The Accounting and International Economics and Trade programs were selected as national-level first-class undergraduate programs in 2019 and 2020 respectively. In 2021, the International Business master’s degree program was approved, and in 2024, the Accounting master’s degree program was approved. Since the accreditation, the three programs have collectively received two national first-class undergraduate courses and 15 provincial first-class undergraduate courses. The project titled “Exploration and Practice of Management Accounting Talent Cultivation in the New Economic Era: Integration of Curriculum and Certification, Specialization and Innovation, and Enhancement through Digital Intelligence” won the first prize in the Zhejiang Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. In the future, business programs will take this opportunity of obtaining international business accreditation to focus on teaching, prioritize students, and emphasize internationalization, fully promoting the high-quality development of business programs.
It is reported that ACBSP was established in 1988 and is a business school accreditation body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the United States. ACBSP emphasizes excellence in teaching, pursues outstanding teaching quality, and focuses on how students can learn more efficiently. Currently, ACBSP has over 1,220 member institutions, with 80% located in the United States, making it one of the three major international business accreditations recognized globally.
