On March 1, 2025, the first spring recruitment fair of the year, “Towards Ningbo”, was held at ZWU’s Qianhu Campus. Nearly 100 companies from Ningbo participated, offering over 300 positions with a combined demand for more than 1,800 candidates and an average annual salary exceeding 80,000 yuan. The event attracted nearly 2,000 students, resulting in over 300 preliminary employment intentions within just half a day.
The job fair was bustling with graduating students, who moved between company booths, engaging in in-depth discussions with recruiters. Many companies listed a variety of attractive perks in their recruitment information, and offered comprehensive training programs tailored to individuals and well-structured promotion mechanisms. Zhejiang CRRC Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. provided four technical positions, with a monthly salary of 6,000–8,000 yuan. The company had already received seven résumés, including two from postgraduate students. “We assign a mentor to newcomers for a year and a half to support their career development,” said Manager Ma of the company. Ningbo Port Southeast Logistics Group’s overseas management trainee position, with an annual salary of 200,000–300,000 yuan, attracted numerous students with strong foreign language skills to inquire.
Lan Yangwei, a student majoring in International Business, conversed fluently in English with a foreign trade company representative at their booth and was immediately offered a second-round interview opportunity. “In my class, 25% of students choose to pursue postgraduate studies, civil service exams, or institutional jobs, while the remaining 75% opt for direct employment,” said Zhu Xuying, an Electrical Engineering major. She focused on professional alignment, noting, “There are plenty of job openings today, and many companies offer training programs, which eases my concerns about lacking experience.” Lin Bo, a Business Administration major, submitted his résumé while waiting for his postgraduate entrance exam results. “A position with a starting salary of 8,000 yuan and growth potential is worth seizing,” he remarked. Logistics Management major Cui Guanghui stated that the knowledge he had accumulated during his studies and his deep understanding of Ningbo’s industrial system gave him confidence in job hunting. Xue Ruonan, a Business English major, aimed to apply for administrative and foreign trade positions, seeking to combine her academic background with personal interests. During her interviews, she remained composed, saying, “I thoroughly researched my preferred companies beforehand, so my communication with interviewers was smooth and enjoyable.” Zhao, an Accounting major, carefully selected five ideal job offers after researching relevant companies. After discussions with recruiters, he successfully advanced to the next interview stage. Meanwhile, Ye, a Chinese Language and Literature major, showed a strong interest in new media operations. She emphasized the importance of hands-on experience, stating that she immediately reflects on her shortcomings and seeks improvement through practical experience and post-internship reviews.
This job fair not only provided a physical job-seeking platform for graduating students but also offered sophomores and juniors a clear direction for their future careers, helping them better plan their professional development. “Through this job fair, I was able to gain early insight into some specific requirements that companies have for job applicants, allowing me to improve my relevant skills accordingly,” shared Chen Weihao, a ZWU sophomore majoring in journalism.
At the job fair, Zhu Bangxiang, Deputy Secretary of ZWU’s Party Committee, engaged in detailed conversations with employers and job-seeking students to gain a deeper understanding of companies’ hiring needs and students’ job preferences. He noted that the employment situation for university graduates is better than in previous years, with nearly 2,000 students applying on-site. Regarding conditions such as single rest days and overtime proposed by some companies, many students were willing to accept them, demonstrating a strong work ethic and readiness to start at frontline positions after joining a company. Representatives from the admissions and employment office, as well as various colleges, were present throughout the event to address students’ questions.
The organizer of the job fair stated that this year’s graduates showed a generally high level of enthusiasm for employment. Employers also offered attractive salaries and benefits to retain talent, indicating a positive outlook for the job market.
The job fair was jointly organized by our university and Ningbo Talent Development Group, with the admissions and employment office and Ningbo Talent Service Co., Ltd. responsible for its execution.
