College of Big Data and Software Engineering

The College is a newly established front-end technology college to adapt to the national big data development strategy. It comprises five undergraduate majors: Data Science and Big Data Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Statistics, and Blockchain Engineering. Currently, there are nearly 1,600 undergraduate students (freshmen not included) in the College.

International Collaboration: The College collaborates with universities such as Purdue University Northwest in the United States and University of the Fraser Valley in Canada to jointly cultivate undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science and Technology through the “2+2” dual-degree program. Purdue University Northwest is one of the two core campuses in the Purdue University system. In recent years, an increasing number of undergraduate graduates have been admitted to prestigious universities such as the University of Southern California and the University of Nottingham for postgraduate studies.

Excellent Facilities: The College is equipped with two teaching and research buildings and has established a “National University Student Practice Base”, a software practice base for service outsourcing of Zhejiang University, and a provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center for computer information technology. Additionally, it houses two key laboratories of Ningbo.

Outstanding Faculty: The College boasts a faculty that includes 4 young academic leaders in Zhejiang Province and 3 individuals recognized under the Zhejiang 151 Talent Project. Most teachers have extensive experience in enterprise research and development or have undertaken visiting scholar programs at renowned overseas universities. The College is home to a Zhejiang Teaching Innovation Team, a Ningbo Science and Technology Innovation Team, and a team funded by the Zhejiang Provincial Finance.

Distinctive Teaching: The College employs a small-class, experiential laboratory teaching model, emphasizing a fusion of theory and practice. Collaborations with globally renowned enterprises such as Huawei, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom provide students with industry-relevant training. The College has widely promoted the model of cultivating outstanding engineers, sending fourth-year students to core departments of well-known local IT enterprises for paid learning, internships, and job placement recommendations.

High-Quality Employment: The average monthly salary of graduates from each major consistently ranks first in the university. Over the past three years, the average employment rate for graduates from each major (including entering civil service, pursuing further studies, studying abroad, and being self-employed) has exceeded 98%.
