College of Information and Intelligence Engineering

The College offers seven undergraduate majors: Internet of Things Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Mechanical Electronic Engineering, Network Space Security, and Artificial Intelligence. Among them, the major of Internet of Things Engineering is recognized as an Emerging Specialty Major in Zhejiang Province during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” and “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”, and it was selected as a National First-Class Professional Construction Site in 2020. The major of Electronic Information Engineering has been approved to be a First-Class Professional Construction Site in Zhejiang Province, a National CDIO Pilot Major (second batch), and a Pilot Major for the Integration of Industry and Education of Integrated Circuit in Ningbo. The major of Communication Engineering has been a provincial key major during Zhejiang Province’s “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, an Emerging Specialty Major during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period and “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, and an Advantageous Major of Ningbo. The major of Electrical Engineering and Automation is a key major of Ningbo. The major of Mechanical Electronic Engineering focuses on cultivating talents in the field of robotics. The two newly established majors, Network Space Security and Artificial Intelligence, are Emerging Interdisciplinary Engineering Majors. According to the 2021 Cuaa.net ranking of first-class majors, four majors of the College, namely Internet of Things Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Communication Engineering, and Electronic Information Engineering, are rated as 6-star programs, and the major of Electrical Engineering and Automation is rated as a 5-star program. Notably, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things Engineering are ranked first among national applied universities, while Communication Engineering and Electronic Information Engineering are ranked first in Zhejiang Province, and Electrical Engineering and Automation is ranked second in Zhejiang Province. The College has over 2,000 undergraduate students, and it also admits master’s students with a focus on logistics information technology and has trained over 60 graduates. The College places great emphasis on international cooperation and exchanges, and it has established good cooperative relationships with overseas universities such as Purdue University Northwest, University of the Fraser Valley in Canada, Murray State University in the United States, and Manukau Institute of Technology in New Zealand, cultivating “2+2” double-degree undergraduate students. The College collaborates with companies like Huawei, China Mobile, China Unicom, and Neusoft in deepening the integration of industry and education and cultivating high-quality applied talents. In 2021, the entrepreneurship rate exceeded 16%, and the enrollment rate for further education exceeded 7%. The annual employment rate has been above 95%.

The College possesses the first-class key discipline in Zhejiang Province, Information and Communication Engineering, which was ranked 62nd nationally according to the Cuaa.net ranking in 2019. The College has established various innovation platforms for industry, research, and education integration, including the “Wanli Maker Space” (a national mass entrepreneurship and innovation space), the “Ningbo DSP Key Laboratory”, the “Ningbo EDA Key Laboratory”, and the “Ningbo IoT Big Data Technology and Application Collaborative Innovation Center”. It also has more than 20 provincial teaching platforms such as the provincial Electronic Information Experiment Center and the provincial Virtual Simulation Center, along with over 20 labs supported by central and provincial finances. The College has participated in the joint construction of the ZWU–Huawei provincial education base for extracurricular engineering practice, the graduate practice base of Ningbo Guoyan Software Technology Co., and the graduate practice base of Ningbo Zhongke Integrated Circuit Design Center Co., among others, totaling 12 innovation internship practice bases and 3 industry academies. Currently, the College has over 100 full-time and adjunct faculty members, with nearly 60% holding doctoral degrees. More than 20 faculty members have been selected for various talent programs at the provincial and municipal levels, including the Zhejiang 151 Talent Project, the Leading Talent Training Program for Zhejiang Universities (“5246 Talent Program”), the Young Leading Talent Training Program for Zhejiang Universities, Distinguished Young and Middle-aged Academic Leaders at Zhejiang Universities, Experts with Outstanding Contributions to Ningbo City, and the Ningbo Leading and Outstanding Talent Program.

The College attaches great importance to research and innovation as well as social service, with an annual average research funding exceeding 11 million yuan. The college faculty members have achieved remarkable research results, including TOP papers and 10-odd provincial and ministerial-level teaching and research achievement awards.
