Established in 2010, the School of Logistics and E-commerce is the first management school in the Chinese mainland to have been validated by AMBA/BGA, and it has been selected as a Key Modern Industrial School of Zhejiang Province (first batch), a Specialty School of Ningbo City (first batch), and one of the Modern Industrial Schools of Ningbo City. The School has three departments, namely, the Department of Logistics, the Department of E-commerce, and the Department of Business Administration. Currently, there are over 90 faculty members, among whom there is 1 National Excellent Teacher, 1 member of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education of China for Logistics Management and Engineering, 1 deputy director of the Teaching Guidance Committee of Zhejiang Province for Logistics Management and Industrial Engineering, and 1 member of the Teaching Guidance Committee of Zhejiang Province for E-commerce. More than 30 faculty members have been selected on the lists of the Zhejiang Teaching Masters, “Zhijiang Young Scholars in Social Sciences” of Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Provincial Universities Young and Middle-aged Discipline Leaders, Ningbo Leading and Top-Notch Talents, Ningbo Philosophy and Social Sciences Discipline Leaders and other provincial and municipal talent projects.
The School offers one master’s degree program in Engineering Management, and six undergraduate majors, including Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, E-commerce, Cross-border E-commerce, Business Administration and Digital Economy, among which Logistics Management and E-commerce are the National-Level First-Class Undergraduate Programs. The School has founded three industrial colleges, namely, the Ningbo Cross-border E-commerce College, the International Shipping and Logistics College, and the Rural Culture and Tourism Common Prosperity College. It has also founded a number of provincial-level demonstration bases for industry-teaching integration such as Zhejiang Cross-border E-commerce Industry-Teaching Integration Demonstration Base and Zhejiang Postgraduate Joint Cultivation Base. The School attaches great importance to the cultivation of students’ innovation and entrepreneurship awareness and practical ability, and the students have made excellent achievements in various disciplinary competitions at all levels, such as the E-commerce Challenge Contest of “Creative Innovation and Entrepreneurship” for the National College Students, the “Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurial Plan Competition of Zhejiang Province, University Students’ E-commerce Competition in Zhejiang Province, and other competitions, where they have won the first and second prizes for many times. Graduates of the School are welcomed by society, with the employment rate, entrepreneurship rate, and further education rate among the top of similar colleges and universities of the province.
The School has 3 provincial research platforms, including the Research Center for Port-centered Modern Service Industry and Creative Culture, which is a Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Zhejiang Province, Ningbo Maritime Silk Road Research Institute, and the New Think Tank for Universities and Colleges in Zhejiang Province. Management Science and Engineering, a first-level discipline and one of the main disciplines of the School, is a Provincial-Level First-Class Discipline and a Key Discipline of Ningbo (Class A). Service Management and Engineering, a sub-discipline, is a Key Discipline of Zhejiang Province. Some other sub-disciplines, such as Logistics Management and Engineering, and Business Management, are the Key Disciplines of Ningbo. In recent years, teachers of the School have carried out research in the fields of Port Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Digital Innovation and Management as well as Cross-Border E-commerce, undertaking more than 60 national and provincial projects, having published more than 150 SSCI/SCI/CSSCI papers, more than 50 monographs and textbooks, and having won 15 provincial and ministerial awards. The research results are fruitful, some of which have been adopted by more than 10 departments at the provincial and ministerial levels.
