Huamei College of Life and Health Sciences

The Huamei College of Life and Health Sciences is a new entity co-established by Zhejiang Wanli University, the Second Hospital of Ningbo, Guoke Ningbo Life And Health Industry Research Institute, and the Ningbo Guoke Clinical Teaching Center. The predecessor of the Second Hospital of Ningbo, Huamei Hospital, was founded in 1843 and is one of the earliest Western hospitals in China. With 180 years of development, it has entered the national top 100 tertiary public hospitals for four consecutive years, earning an A+ rating. In 2020 and 2021, it ranked first among public hospitals in Ningbo. The hospital has two campuses with a total construction area of 180,000 square meters and more than 3,200 medical and health staff, including over 680 senior clinical medical experts.

The afollege currently has 42 full-time and part-time faculty members. Focused on life and health, it conducts joint education and training for full-time undergraduate and master’s students through the integration of science and education, resource sharing, complementary advantages, and collaboration between medicine and education. The College has laboratories for medical imaging, physiology and biochemistry, medical testing, and nutritional guidance. These facilities serve the daily teaching, experiments, and internships for medical technology students, as well as providing continuing education and training services for medical professionals. Additionally, the College offers healthcare management services to the Southern Higher Education District of Ningbo, where the university is located. The talent development in the College follows a 2+2 staged talent cultivation plan jointly designed by the university and hospitals. It has established a training model for compound medical technology talents based on various core skills such as “biology + medicine”, “artificial intelligence + medicine”, and “engineering + medicine”, creating an innovative approach to integrated medical education. The College aims to become a high-level applied college that integrates new medical talent cultivation, technological research and development, and industry services. It aspires to be a hub for scientific and technological innovation, achievements transformation, and high-level medical technology talent cultivation in the field of life and health in the eastern Zhejiang region. The College operates on a dual-dean responsibility system under the leadership of a board of directors.
